The heavy consumption of petroleum energy is a serious international problem that has caused the high price of the petroleum. This problem will affect the international economy, especially the countries do not produce crude oil. Taiwan has this problem too, so that is suitable to develop alternative fuel. Gasohol is composed of gasoline and ethanol, and the ethanol is a renewable bioenergy. The biomass industry can produce ethanol by fermenting crops, like corn, sweet potato…etc. Gasoline is mainly composed of a series of hydrocarbon compounds. The addition of oxygenated compounds in gasoline is proposed to decrease the pollutants in exhaust emissions. The results showed that the best ratio of gasohol was 15% before was adjusted the carburetor. Results indicated that 15% ethanol added to gasoline could reduce the concentration of CO emissions upto 54~80%, 21~55% of HC and 19~46% of NOx. As a result, using gasohol fuels can significantly decrease the pollutants emitted. Using either the gasohol or gasoline, catalyst is effective in reducing the pollutants in exhaust emissions. The results showed that the best air ratio for E30 is 1.068. The addition of ethanol to gasoline fuel enhances the efficiency of the combustion. The result indicated that the concentrations of benzene and toluene were increased. It is probably caused by the decomposition from the complicated compounds to simple compounds during combustion.
