A study of the Relationship between Leadership and Leisure interest of students in 5-6 Grades

Popis: | 93 The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between leadership and leisure interest in elementary school. For approaching the above purpose, reading and analyzing relevant references are the most essential step. This study was taken elementary schools students in northern Taiwan, including Taoyuan city, Hsinchu city, Miaoli city as population, and surveyed through questionnaire investigation for understanding the current situation of student’s leadership and leisure, as well as the correlation between them. This study employs “Leadership Aptitude Test” and “Leisure Interest Scale” as instruments. A random sample of 600 elementary students in northern Taiwan, including Taoyuan city, Hsinchu city, Miaoli city were selected in the study, with the return of 484 valid questionnaires and the returned ratio is 80.7%. This data of this study were analyzed by T-test, One-way ANOVA, Person Product-moment Correlation and Multiple regression were applied in the examination. The results of the study are as follows: 1. The elementary school students of different gender are significantly different in “organization”, “communication”, “coordination” and “decision making”. 2. There were no significant difference in leadership of students in grades 5-6. That is, the sixth grade students are better than the fifth grade students in “decision making”. 3. There were no significant difference in leadership of students in grades 5-6 from the different district. That is, students in Taoyuan city, Hsinchu city have better “evaluation”than in Miaoli city. 4. There were no significant difference in leadership of students in grades 5-6 from family social economic status. 5. The elementary school students of different gender are significantly different in leisure interest,boys are interested in “sport activity” than girls. On the other hand, girls are interested in “cultural and art activity”, “recreation activity”, “service activity” and “family activity” than boys. 6. There were no significant difference in leisure interest of students in grades 5-6, fifth grades like“ religion activities” more than the sixth grades. 7. There were no significant difference by different district. That is, Hsinchu city is better than “sport activities” Taoyuan city and Miaoli city. 8. There were no significant difference in leisure interest of students in grades 5-6 from the different family social economic status. Children with high social and economic status have better “information activities” than children with social and economic status. 9. There was significant relevance among leisure interest and leadership;The elementary school students’ gender and information activities can effectively predict the leadership. Based on the results mentioned above, conclusions and suggestions for teachers and further research were provided. |
