The effects of Job demand-control model and work motivation on job performance

Popis: | 93 In order to cope well with the global economic challenges, enterprises are increasing employees’ job demand to drop labor cost. This makes us want to understand if organizations increase employees’ job control and employees’ work motivation, job demands would influence employees’ job performance. The study obtained 6 purposive sampling electric companies from “Top 1000 Manufacture Companies in Taiwan” by Commonwealth Magazine in 2004. Totally, 317 questionnaires were sent out, and 218 valid questionnaires were responded, the valid responded rate is 68.77%. Analyzed the returned data by hierarchical multiple regression, this study obtained the following 10 conclusions: 1. Different personal variables would have different reactions for job demand, job control, work motivation, and job performance. 2. Personality and organizational climate would decrease the negative effects of job demand, increase the positive effects of job control, prompt employees’ work motivation and improve the job performance. 3. Job loading and role ambiguity would separately influence power needs positively and negatively. 4. Job control and job demand have the interactive effect on work motivation. 5. Job demand and job control would increase job performance of output and interpersonal. 6. Job demand and job control would interactively influence job performance and work dedication separately. 7. Work criteria should be produced from job demand. 8. Work motivation would positively influence job performance. 9. Work motivation would moderate the relationship between job control and work dedication. 10. Work motivation plays the mediate role between job loading and job performance, and between role ambiguity and job performance. According to the conclusions, we have made some recommendations to managerial practices and further studies. |
