The purpose of this study was to identify the connotation of professional literacy for sports journalist and to understand professional education and information source that affect them. This result then concluded the category of professional literacy and the order of importance for sports journalist. This study adopted Modified Delphi Method and Depth Interview Surveys. The former surveyed the 37 specialists through three-round questionnaires. The result obtained consensuses from 60 of 177 items of professional literacy for sports journalist. The latter method aimed to solve the problems of the result in the questionnaire to further understand and analyze. The conclusions were as followings: 1. The constructs of professional literacy for sport journalists contained five categories. 2. The course of sports journalism and communication were not enough in internal. 3. Self-enrichment was the most important in professional education. 4. Professional autonomy and professional promise were belittled. 5. Information source was important, however, the most important was to verify and judge. 6. The level of sports journalist in different media was consistent. 7. The needs of professional literacy for sports journalist were higher and more than general journalist. 8. The media must have the sense to cultivate and train sports journalist. 9. The most important factors for students to learn journalism were right cognition and practice. 10. Government should establish the department containing sport and journalism profession.
