The main goals of this research were to investigate the working pressure of the operating room nursing staff, their methods to cope with pressure, and the relationships between satisfaction rate and these two parameters, as well as to understand the relationship between satisfaction rate and different pressure sources. The operating room nursing staff in a medical center in central Taiwan were enrolled in the study. 100 questionnaires were sent out, of them 90 were retrieved, with an effective retrieving rate of 90%. Cronbach’s α value was used to investigate the validity of the internal consistency between all parameters. The statistical methods include: the descriptive statistics; factor analysis was used to extract data on sources of working pressure and the dimensions of the scale of different coping methods for pressure; the Ridit method was used to investigate the relationships between different sources of working pressure and work satisfaction. Canonical Correlation Analysis was used to investigate the relationships between coping methods of working pressure and work satisfaction. The findings showed that: First, the operating room nursing staff have a higher degree of satisfaction with their association with colleagues and their professional skills; they have the lowest satisfaction with the reward system. Second, the nursing staff whose working pressure came from a sense of futility are unsatisfied with their superior’s ability to make decisions; those whose working pressure came from a heavy workload are most unsatisfied with the reward system. Third, the operating room nursing staff are satisfied with the leave of absence system and use sleep to relieve working pressure.
