The light plays the quite important role in our daily lives. In the family, the illumination quality has the significant influence on vision health and human mood. As regards the car driving, the lightness is closely linked with the traffic safety. In the last few years, the lighting devices of mobile vehicles have the great breakthrough which not only increases the lamp brightness to promote the driving safety, but also decreases the consumption of electric power to save the energy. The main effort of this thesis is devoted to design the electron ballasts for the OSRAM D2S 35W xenon gas lamp to meet the transient and steady-state design specifications of HID lamps. Furthermore, the electromagnetic interference of the implemented circuits and the lamp is measured and improved. The circuit structure of electronic ballast consists of a flyback converter, a full-bridge inverter and an high-voltage igniter. The flyback converter is based on the TI UCC2305 IC to provide the transient and steady-state power. The full-bridge inverter is implemented by using Philips UBA2030T IC to generate the low frequency square wave to drive the HID lamp. As for the design of the high-voltage igniter, the single-stage double-voltage circuit is used to generate the momentarily high voltage for lighting up the HID lamp. The performance of integrated circuit must meet the physical characteristics of the Xenon HID lamp to keep the normal operation of the HID lamp. Finally, the testing and measurements of the radiation and conduction for the electromagnetic interference are performed to search and improve the main noise source of the system circuit. The improvement of EMI may increase the stability and efficiency of the system circuit and reduce the electromagnetic wave's injury to meet the related standards of commercial products. In conclusion, the main results of this thesis will give the practical experience and testing reference of system design and integration for the electron ballasts of automobile HID lamps.
