Since SARS broke out in 2003, this disease caused lots of death and cost of our society. Study on SARS was discussed widely by many experts from government officials and public society. It becomes an important issue on control of SARS virus in medical science. We develop a questionnaire and conduct a survey to understand the knowledge and attitude of nursing staff about SARS control and prevention and some related issues. Descriptive statistics analysis, student t-test, univariate analysis of variance (Univeriate ANOVA), factor analysis, and correlation analysis are major analysis techniques of the our questionnaire data. The results show that: 1、In self-perception perspective: Prevention methods get the highest scores. Infection control, training, education by hospital get the second and third scores. Process of infection control is the lowest one. 2、In attitude perspective: Nursing staffs would obey the policy and look for supported information and training. Moreover, nursing staff has lots of fears and pressure when taking care of SARS patients. Providing proper allowance for taking care of SARS patients is a reasonable suggestion. 3、In recognition perspective: All nursing staff seem to have not enough knowledge when facing SARS. 4、In nursing staff’s characters: Self-perception and attitude are statistically different on the categories age groups, position groups, experience groups, martial status, and whether nor not they have taken care of SARS patients. No significant difference on the education level. 5、Knowledge and attitude are positively correlated.
