Popis: | 92 THE GRAPHICS IN THE PROCESS OF TEACHING THE CHILDREN PICTURE BOOKS By Min-Hui Chang THE Graduate Institute of Children’s Literature in National Taitung University ABSTRACT This research studied children’s graphics when they created their picture books. Also, this research focused on children’s graphics performances by guiding them to create their picture books. The subjects were fifth grade students. This study carried out 4 activities through a 4 month period. The results of the study revealed that the picture book curriculum increased subjects’ interpretations of graphics and create the picture books by expressing certain characteristics, techniques, and visual elements of the picture books. In addition, the results indicated that the instructors learned how to apply graphics performance in visual art curriculum, how to teach children the expressions, and appreciations, the formulation of graphics. This study was conducted by employing action research, including literature review, teaching applications, the evaluations of subjects’ achievements, the revision of the teaching applications, and formal teaching studies. Conclusions as following: 1. Fifth graders can be familiar with different graphics and they can express their thoughts and feelings in visual forms. In addition, the process of their team work and communication increases their creativity, sensibility, and flexibility. 2. It is helpful for fifth graders to create their picture books by improving their abilities to represent the graphics. 3. The graphics representation is the children-centered art learning.
