In this study, two series of fluorine-containing poly(amide–imide)s and polyimide were synthesized and their thermal properties, solubility and dielectric constant also investigated. Two parts were included in this study. In the first part, the synthesis and properties of fluorine-containing poly(amide–imide)s were studied. Two kinds of diimide–dicarboxylic acid were synthesized with two kinds of dianhydride and m-amino benzoic acid. Two series of fluorine–containing poly(amide–imide)s were prepared from diimide–dicarboxylic acid monomers and fluorine– containing aromatic diamine monomers by direct polycondensation in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone ( NMP ) containing lithium chloride ( LiCl ) using triphenylphosphite ( TPP ) and pyridine as condensing agents. The synthesized fluorine–containing poly(amide–imide)s were soluble in solvents such as NMP, DMAc, DMF, and DMSO. The temperature of 10% weight loss of synthesized polymers were in the range of 529638oC under nitrogen atmosphere ( environment ).The glass transition temperatures of the synthesized polymers were in the range of 197 ~ 245oC. In the second part, the synthesis and properties of fluorine- containing polyimides were studied. A series of fluorine–containing polyimides have been synthesized from the condensation of various dianhydride and various fluorine–containing diamine monomers. It was found that polymer showed good thermal stability, and the temperature of 10%weight loss of synthesized polymers were in the range of 558 ~ 580oC under nitrogen atmosphere. The The glass transition temperatures of the synthesized polymers were in the range of 210 ~ 230oC.
