Personal Software Process, proposed by Watts S. Humphrey, has been recognied by the software industry that it is effective to improve the productivity and the quality of software engineers. To monitor and enhance the programming capability of students’ programming efficiency, a programming capability reporting system, basing on the concepts of Personal Software Process, has been designed in the research. Each student of Computer Science and Information Engineering Department, is requested to input the time spent in attending class, reading, doing assignments, and designing programming exercise into this system everyday. The system will calculate the time spent of each assignment, lines of code per each hour, and number of errors per 100 lines of code of each student automatically. The system will calculate the average data of the students in a class too. Based on these statistics, each students will understand his capabilities and shortcomings in the class, and then try to improve himself. Teachers are also easy to find errors made by the student and then adjust the course content. This system implemented by Java language is running on Microsoft Window system. And the database management system used the Microsoft SQL.
