Popis: | 91 This research focuses on studying the unsteady flow field in a load-varying space by computation fluid dynamics (CFD) technique in order to improve the defects occurred in applying variable air volume (VAV) technology. Two types of VAV fan-coil units (VAV FCU), one with traditional design and the other with bypassing design (VAV bypass Fan-Coil Unit, VAV BFCU) were investigated to deduce their operating characteristics and to find out the potential problems in practical application. The computational results include air velocity, temperature, age of Air, and humidity as well as PMV (Predicted Mean Vote) and PPD (Predicted Percent Dissatisfied) in the target room. By doing so it would be easier to determine the impacts of VAV application on the thermal comfort. On the other hand, the performance of VAV BFCU prototype was also tested to obtain its performance curve by the test techniques and bench designed in the present study. Simulation results show that the use of VAV FCU has advantage in energy-saving, but their exists the potential problem in maintaining the thermal comfort when running at low air volume due to low mixing rate of air, low ventilation rate, absence of outside air supply etc.; and the dumping may take place at low supply air volume, which cause the insufficiency of indoor air exchange and poor quality of air conditioning. Contrary to those defects of traditional VAV FCU, the CFD results show that the unique characteristics of VAV BFCU could minimize the discomfort due to insufficient of air distribution. |
