Popis: | 91 This research investigates how an enterprise conducts its training programs effectively during the implementation of a knowledge management system. It also studies the role of training programs play and the interaction between knowledge management activities and training programs. After a careful evaluation, China Motors Corporation, a big automobile manufacturer which has successfully implemented a knowledge management system, is chosen as the object of a qualitative study. Based on intensive data acquisition and on site interviews, the work presents the formation, implementation, and related training programs of a KM project. The study also derives 12 propositions. Each proposition is carefully examined and personal comments are given. The most important results obtained are followings: 1. Training programs are essential to an enterprise in promoting knowledge management. They not only initiate changes in corporate culture but also provide a good interface during the transition. 2. Diverse and flexible training programs have a positive effect on promoting knowledge management. In addition, they will encourage the sharing of knowledge between the members involved. 3. Prototype knowledge management system may be initiated by several well-trained seed staffers. Those employees can spread the concepts to others. Moreover, they also can provide necessary feedback about the deficiencies of the prototype system. 4. Promotion of knowledge management can save training cost. 5. Implementation of knowledge management will improve the efficiency as well as the quality of training programs. 6. Training programs and knowledge management activities provide positive feedback for each other. 7. Among training programs, E-learning, and knowledge management activities, an enterprise should look for a balance or an optimization since none can be completely replaced by the others. 8. In promoting knowledge management and relative activities, an enterprise will have benefits from an upgraded corporate culture and the capability to face competition. |
