MMI All-Optical Logic Gates via Partially Nonlinear Propagation Region

We propose a new multimode interference structure containing the partial Kerr-like material. The function of this Kerr-like material is to be phase shifter for all-optical logic gates. The advantages of this structure are compactness and insensitive to relative phase difference of incident beams. We utilize the finite difference time domain method to simulate and analyze in this paper and have demonstrated the all-optical AND, NOT and XOR logic functions using this structure.
