The research of elementary school student’s reading interests and attitude in readings for children and the promotion of reading program─take Long-Fong elementary school for instance Uan,Chiung-Iue Abstract The purpose of the study is to explor Lon-Fon Elementary School students’ reading interests, the habit of reading, reading attitude, reading motivation among third and sixth grade children in order to designing the case to encourage children’s reading in children’s book. Investigation questionnaire, semi-open interview and survey methods were used to get the conclusions as follow: A. Reading Motivation more spontaneous motivation than compulsory one. B. The fulfillment of promoting reading program enlarge students’ reading quantity and field. C. Student’s reading interest 1. The plot interests students more and stories that are sweet, wit, interesting, struggled, and brave are unforgettable. 2. Students in different class and sex have dissimilar interests in books. D. Students’ cognition to non-paper media: 1. Most students in both sexes have no experiences in reading Children’s Literature on Internet and videotapes. 2. Most students in both sexes have seldom experiences in reading Children’s Literature on tapes, electric books, VCD. 3. Most students in both sexes have rare experiences in reading Children’s Literature on radio. 4. Most students in both sexes have no idea about website of Children’s Literature. E. Attitude in Reading 1. Students’ reading attitudes are positive. 2. Students’ reading attitudes are coherence with studying fulfillment. 3. Students’ reading attitudes have no difference between classes. 4. Students’ reading attitudes have no coherence with parents’ occupation and education level. F. Students’ reading condition 1. Source of books Boys and girls have different sources of book. 2. Reading environment Most of the reading environment are their home. 3. Length students read during one week Most of the students read for no more than one hour a week. 4.
