Popis: | 91 This primary intention of the research is to trace the historical origin and development of respecting and cherishing the written paper in Taiwan and introduce how the custom prevail from the original Mainland China to Taiwan, the related construction and religious rites. The angles of the research start with studying how the traditional literati propels the custom from the broadcasting view. Furthermore, observe how the religious belief put an impact on it from people’s psychological aspect.Last, probe into the live example about the Six-Pile Hakka villages in the South of Taiwan because of their valuing the literary atmosphere. The following are the outcomes of the research through sorting documents and investigating, visiting and recording the cultivated lands. First, the character-cherishing custom originates from the witchcraft culture in the primitive society, and then is affected by the papermaking technology, the printing technology and the imperial exam system. The constructional form of the character-cherishing pavilion shows the beauty of the Chinese buildings and also reflects the feature of its culture and education. According the record of the documents between the Ching Dynasty and the period when Taiwan was occupies by the Japanese, we can find the change and difference of the rite of delivering the holy written paper. Second, about the prevailing of the custom, the traditional gentry in Taiwan play the role of the media during the Ching Dynasty and the period when Taiwan was occupies by the Japanese. They carry out the activity of the custom and even step in the official policy by teaching, preaching, charity work through the various channels, such as the schooling system, charity groups, religious organizations, cultural clubs, etc. Third, the belief group who believe in the literary gods, such as the Deity Wen-chang and the Sage Cang-jia, are respected and adorned because the prosperity of the imperial exam system. Under the situation, it is related with the occurrence of the custom. The circulating books persuading people into doing good deeds in the folks lead to the thought rooted in the people deeply. The concepts of character-cherishing in the good books form the people’s morality and the rules of conduct in their daily life in the various forms of the merits and demerits of characters, the taboos of characters, the tales of cause and result, and ballads. Fourth, from the discovery of the investigation of visiting and interviewing the cultivated lands, among many character-cherishing pavilions in the Six-Pile Hakka villages in the South of Taiwan, most of which stand in the temples or next to the temples housing the village deity. Besides valuing the education themselves and many literati’s models, the reason why the custom is prosperous is the support of many social organizations, such as “Chan”or “Hui”. Merging with the rite of offering sacrifice to the river gods in Hakka and the folk custom, delivering the holy written characters in the Sheng-ji organization in the Mei–nong town in kaohsiung county hands down to nowadays in various aspects The custom of cherish papers of words represents people’s reverence for knowledge and culture in the traditional society under the influence of the Confucianism, which can’t be blotted out in view of superstition. |
