In this thesis, we proposed an Adaptive Media Play-out (AMP) method based on Perceived Motion Energy (PME). Most of current researches of AMP are focusing on buffer control and packet scheduling. Our approach considers the content of video for AMP. The video content is the motion activity of that specific video clip, which is described by the PME. Here, we consider the PME as the clue to adjust the threshold and then change the play-out rate. Because human eyes are more sensitive to high motion videos, we avoid over-slowing the play-out rate in high motion video clips. Dynamic thresholding adjusts the play-out rate based on the PME variation to improve the visual perceptibility. Simulation results show that our proposed method outperforms other methods that only consider buffer quantity over various channel conditions.
