The aim of this study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary supplement of humic acid and Wood vinegar compound on growth performance and carcass characteristics in Taiwan black country chickens. Two experiments were included in this study. In experiment Ⅰ, 240 Taiwan black country chickens were randomly divided to four treatment groups with three repeats in this experiment. There were 12 pens chickens, including half of the male and female. Corn-soybean meal was used as a basal diet. Chickens in group B, C and D were fed with basal diet supplemented 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6% humic acid respectively, while chickens in group A fed with basal diet served as the control during 4 stages 16 weeks experiment period. The data of feed consumption were collected every day and measuring weights every two weeks that to collected body-weight gain and feed conversion ratio(FCR). Each treatment group took 6 chickens(half of the male and female)randomly to analyzed their carcass characteristics including carcass quality, muscle color and general composition analysis at the age of 12, 14 and 16th week. Experiment Ⅱ, 240 taiwan black country chickens were randomly divided to four treatment groups with three repeats in this experiment. There were 12 pens chickens, including half of the male and female. Chickens in treatment 4 group were fed with basal diet supplemented 0.2% humic acid and plus 0、0.25、0.50 and 1.0% Wood vinegar compound, respectively. The experiment methods and analysis items were the same as experimentⅠ. The results of experiment Ⅰshowed that supplement of 0.2% humic acid in basal diet elevated the body-weight gain about 14.92%(p<0.05), improved of FCR were 9.0%(p<0.05), increased 2.56% dressing percentage, higher breast percentage about 0.8%(p<0.050),decreased crude fat content of carcass(p<0.05)and increased crude ash content of carcass(p<0.05).There were not significantly different on thigh percentage, crude fat and ash content of muscle and carcass color(L. a. b. value). The results of experiment Ⅱ showed that supplement of 0.2% humic acid and plus 0.25, 0.50 and 1.0% wood winegar compound in basal diet could elevated body-weight gain 14.40、7.81 and 5.83%(p<0.05), respectively. Basal diet supplement 0.2% humic acid and plus 0.25% Wood vinegar compound treatment group could increased FCR about 9.29%(p<0.05)and elevated 2.52% dressing percentage(p<0.05). Basal diet supplement 0.2% humic acid and plus 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0% Wood vinegar compound could decreased crude fat and crude ash content of carcass (p<0.05), but were not significantly different on carcass color. The results of this study indicated that supplement of 0.2% humic acid have the best growth performance and carcass characteristics, basal diet supplemented 0.2% humic acid and plus 0.25% Wood vinegar compound group have the best results.
