On The Fuzziness between Illusion and Reality The great ancient Chinese philosopher Laozi said in the famous Dao Der Jing, "The way that can be followed is not the eternal way, The name that can be named is not the eternal name, These two things are the same in origin but differentin name, Calling them a name is a mystery, It is the mystery of mysteries, of all pirituality it is the gate." The ultimate cannot be described. It is the ineffable that is the gateway to the quest of the spirituality. The truth is fuzzily unclear and varyingly unpredictable. All languages, with their limited power, are distortions and cover-ups of the events of the cosmos. Just as the Greek master Socratic uttered in his last words of wisdom, "I am conscious, I know nothing at all." He who really knows would keep his silence and say nothing. It is the wordlessness that encompasses everything. There exists a fuzzy phenomenon in human''s conceptual thinking, linguistic expression and sensational judgement. What is the fuzzy phenomenon? In general terms, it is equivalent to any occurrences of being inaccurate, wavering, uncertain, or multiple meaning. The Theory of Fuzziness (or the Fuzzy Theory) aims atresolving the characteristics of such fuzziness without being const rained by the conventional bipolar logic. The subjects of art are full of fuzziness. Even the focus of the artistic arguments has evolved from "what is a good artwork?" to "what is an artwork?" This research is intended to address the issues related to the artistic fuzziness with the following objectives. To study the uncertainty of art utilizing the Fuzzy Theory. From the perspective of the Fuzzy Theory, to resolve the conflicts between conventions and new creations and disentangle the paradoxes between the fixed styles and the changing styles in an attempt to seize the relatively unchanging "core thinking" from the constantly changing styles. The research pursues a methodology of expressing the fuzzy division between illusion and reality through the analytical integration of artistic theories, the introspection of the authors'' artistic creations, and the execution of the author''s ideas for artistic creations. The research is structured as follow. •Chapter 1 presents the motives and objectives for conducting a research on artistic creations, the methodology and procedure for the research, and the author''s creative ideas on the fuzzy division between illusion and reality. •Chapter 2 investigates the theoretical bases for creative ideas, including three levels of considerations: (1) the fuzziness of artistic appearances, (2) the fuzziness of artistic theories and the difficulties associated with their interpretations, and (3) the search for the Fuzzy Theory and the artistic reality. This Chapter attempts to reflect the nature of art through the chaotic artistic appearances. It further explores the use of relative fuzziness to resolve artistic difficulties on the basis of Symbology''s doubt on the absoluteness of art. •Chapter 3 elaborates a theoretical analysis of the author''s creative ideas, including three levels of considerations: (1) the fuzziness between art and living, (2) the fuzziness between conventions and new creations, and (3) the artistic fuzziness between illusion and reality. On the basis of the Fuzzy Theory, this Chapter discusses the near-evolutionary revolutions and the conflicting styles in the history of art, the avoidance of judging artistic value based on the conventional bipolar thinking, and the liberation from stylish constraints to facilitate the use of artistic creations as a way of thinking for the existence of life. •Chapter 4 discusses the execution of the author''s ideas for artistic creations, focusing on three major themes of (1) creation and reflection, (2) the diversification of creative styles, and (3) the multiple meanings of artwork interpretations. The Chapter presents an analysis on the forms and the expressions in real artistic-creation processes, as well as demonstrates in various forms the author''s diverse artistic creations through the use of multi-media. •Chapter 5 interprets the author''s artistic creations. Keywords:art, illusion, reality、fuzzy, style, being.
