A study on the construction of the indicators of professional competency for preschool caregivers based on the plan of integrating kindergartens and nursery schools

The aim of the study is to construct the indicators of professional competency for preschool caregivers based on the plan of integrating kindergartens and nursery schools, which bottom on the background and content of the plan of integrating kindergartens and nursery school, the competency needs of the preschool professionals, and the related researches of professional competency. The study is to realize the importance of competency indicators for preschool professionals in the plan of integrating kindergartens and nursery schools by the view of preschools scholars who train the teachers into kindergartens or nursery schools. The first step is using the questionnaire to collect the preschool scholars’ opinion about the competency indicators of the preschool professionals in the plan of integrating kindergartens and nursery schools; then using the triangular fuzzy sets to manage preschool scholars’ common consensus and screen the indicators through the defuzzify. Finally, using the method of triangular fuzzy sets to weigh the competency indicators of preschool professionals. There are three levels, 5 items in the first level, 16 items in the second level, and 63 items in the third level, of the construction of indicators through the study. In the opinions from preschool scholars with different background, the scholars who train the kindergarten teacher think that ‘the ability to put the learning activities into practice ’gets the highest weight and the second is ‘the ability to give care and protect ’at the first level. At the second level, ‘the ability to manage a class ’is the highest; ‘the ability to self-growing ’is the second. At the third level, ‘the ability to create the warm and believable class atmosphere ’and ‘the ability to build the adorable and credible teacher-pupil relationship ’are in the first two places and ‘the ability to listen attentively ’are in the second place. Other scholars who train nursery school teacher consider that ‘the ability to put the learning activities into practice ’is the most important, the second is ‘the ability to build relationship with others ’. At the second level, ‘the ability to manage a class ’weights the most, and ‘the ability to self-growing ’weights the second. At the third level, ‘the ability to use teaching resources ’is in the first place, and ‘the ability to create the warm and believable class atmosphere’is in the second place. Besides, the study gets some points from the preschool scholars’ opinions, which are: 1. the opinions about the plan of integrating kindergartens and nursery schools. (1)There are no difference between the plan and the current system. (2)The scholars hope to create a national-level (caregiver teacher) to enhance the status of nursery staff. 2. the opinions about professional competency of preschool caregivers. (1)There are no difference between kindergarten teacher and nursery school staff. (2)The teacher-training curriculum of both sides has their own concentration. (3)The core focus of competency of future preschool professionals is to satisfy the children’s need. The following are the conclusions of the study: 1. the plan of integrating kindergartens and nursery schools (1)the suggestions to education administration a. Build up the policy dialogue of early childhood education. b. Advance the licenses system of preschool professionals. c. Accelerate the related measures of the plan to form a complete set. (2)the suggestions to teacher-training institutes. a. Design a multi-accredited curriculum. b.Develop the mechanism to evaluate the outdated curriculum and qualification-accrediting program. (3)the suggestions to the following researches. a.Trace the plan of integrating kindergartens and nursery schools. b.Analyze the persons relating the plan to increase the credibility. 1. professional competency for preschool caregivers. Use ‘competency indicators of preschool professionals based on the plan of integrating kindergartens and nursery schools ’to be the criteria of quasi-preschool professionals and the preschool professionals in the work place. b. Improve the ‘competency indicators of preschool professionals based on the plan of integrating kindergartens and nursery schools’ through the research departments in the teacher-training institutes. (3)the suggestions to the following researches a. Make the team-collaboration researches. b. Lessen the scope of the indicators to deepen the significance of each indicators.
