A Study on the Information Literacy of Elementary and Junior High School Teachers about Index Structure and Exploratory Model Verification

Popis: | 91 The objects of this study are as follows: (1) to structure the index of information literacy; (2) to analyze teacher’s information literacy; (3) to develop a Teachers’ Internet Attitude Scale; (4) to test whether the exploratory model of information literacy fit the observed data well. There are two parts of this study. First, through the implementation process of Delphi technique to ask opinions and ideas on the degree of importance of information literacy index of elementary and junior high school teachers from experts and teachers. This study team of Delphi technique is composed of 16 people, including 7 higher education scholars and 9 elementary and junior high school teachers. Second, sampling from teachers in elementary and junior high school in Taiwan, there were 1756 subjects in this study. Inventory data was analyzed by PRELIS 2.51, LISREL 8.51, and SPSS 11.0. The results indicated that: 1. This study developed 27 indices of information literacy through Delphi technique. 2. Teachers in elementary and junior high school are above-average in whole information literacy, and elementary school teachers’ information literacy is significantly higher than junior high school teachers’. 3. When we used first and second order confirmatory factor analysis to examine the Inventory, we found that its’ chi-square value was significant at .05 level. However, other overall model fit indices indicted that the first and second order confirmatory factor analysis model of Teachers’ Internet Attitude fit the observed data well. 4. The exploratory model of information literacy fitted the observed data well and this result supported the relative study at home and abroad. |
