Popis: | 91 Visual experience contributes to the main human experience in spatial recognition. The concept and attributes of space are changing due to the computer simulation technologies, and forming the real and virtual spaces. It is important for designers and users to distinguish the images and simulation created by computers. Meanwhile, digital design and fabrication become important in the practice of architecture in the digital era. Therefore, this design thesis is aimed to study how to shape the forms by material, lighting, color, and codes in both real and virtual spaces in a series of design projects. Furthermore, the study simulates and builds different conditions for better understanding the difference of changing viewpoints and speeds of approaching observed objects. The new facade of the CAAD Lab as an example is created by digital design process. It is divided into three parts: I. a folded form, II, a curvature free-form, and III synthesis. In part II, it is created with the NURBS operation as a free form in contrast to orthographic rectangular forms in part II for comparing different spatial experience. Based on the visual experiences, this study examines the created forms and receives some feedbacks from observers to identify real and virtual scenes. It is found that the perceptions of the free-form are generated from the image from the observation and the experiences. Three types of compositions can be distinguished through computer simulation of generating forms: 1. the spatial fabrication of the folded plane, 2. the spatial fabrication of the combination with the curved surfaces, and 3. the spatial fabrication of the combination with the folded plane and the curved surfaces. In conclusion, the results of the analysis demonstrate that digital design tools such as hardware and software can assist design conception as well as fabrication. The relationships between memories, viewpoints, speed of perceiving different visual forms will need further analysis for expanding future design experience. |
