A Battery-aware based Routing Scheme in Ad-hoc Wireless Networks for Limited Bandwidth Environments

A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is a set of wireless mobile nodes that dynamically organize into a wireless network without fixed infrastructure or centralized administration. The data transmission in MANET is communicated the nearby mobile hosts to exchange message information. Each mobile device operating the mobile computing and wireless communication operations mainly depends on the battery powers. Therefore, routing in less power consumed path is a critical issue for MANETs. Existing energy-aware routing schemes in MANETs mainly search for a power-aware routing with the consideration of the minimum total transmission power, or a battery-aware routing with the minimum battery cost. In this thesis, we propose an energy aware routing algorithm which also considers the bandwidth limitation for each constructed routing path. Besides, we also consider the path reliability which means the path has enough battery capacity to retransmit the lost packets. In order to discuss the reliable path certainly, we design the algorithms for both of Hop-by-Hop retransmission and End-to-End retransmission modes respectively. Finally, the simulation results show that our proposed scheme has high transmission rate, large number of transmission, few delay time, the high rate of remained links and remained power compared with others.
