Receiver-driven Layered Multicast (RLM) [1] is a system for cumulative layered multicast with receiver-based. This system uses hierarchical rate control mechanism to adjust network congestion and heterogeneity. However Layered Video Multicast with Retransmissions (LVMR)[2] propose that hierarchical rate control mechanism distributes the information between the sender, receivers, and some agents in the network in such a way that each entity maintains only the information relevant to itself. We use SOT’s Transcoder Selection Algorithm[4] and Comparison with Loss Bitmap to look for appropriate agents and establish intelligent knowledge-base. In this paper, we call this method as Self Organised Layered Multicast (SOLM)[14]. But we use MPEG4 source instead of CBR, traditional layered multicast is not stable any more! Hence we put conception of Diffserv into it as SOLM-P and further improve it. In the end of this thesis, we provide several experiments and simulation results to back our claims.
