Application of GIS Techniques to Building Administration Information System

| Popis: | 90 Building administration relies on many types of information, such as documents and maps. Traditional management information system (MIS) can maintain textual data well, but cannot support spatial data management. Geographic information system (GIS) is a good tool to efficiently capture, store, update, manipulate, analyze, and display all forms of geographically referenced information. This study integrates the database technology and GIS techniques to enhance an existing building administration information system of I-Lan County government. The Yuan-Shan Village of I-Lan County is taken as an example to demonstrate the application of GIS to building administration. After analyzing the building licenses which contain building information in detail, as well as finding the relationship between building administration information system and GIS, this work adds web-based GIS capabilities to the I-Lan building administration information system. Furthermore, GIS techniques, such as overlay and buffer analysis, are employed in this work to illustrate urban development process and discuss the landuse situation. |
