The Relationship between Elementary School Students'' Sex, Inferiority Feeling, Social Interest and Adjustment Behavior

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between elementary school students’ sex, inferiority feeling, social interest and adjustment behavior. “Children Inferiority Feeling Scale”, “Children Social Interest Scale” and “Studying Adjustment Scale” were administered to 737 elementary school students. The main findings were as follows: (1) There were significant correlation between the male students’ inferiority feeling, social interest and adjustment behavior. (2) There were significant correlation between the female students’ inferiority feeling, social interest and adjustment behavior. (3) There were significant correlation between the whole students’ inferiority feeling, social interest and adjustment behavior. (4) There were signification correlation between social interest and adjustment in male, female and whole elementary school students. (5) There were signification correlation between inferiority feeling and social interest in male, female and whole elementary school students. (6) There were negative correlation between inferiority feeling and adjustment in male elementary school students. (7) There were positive correlation between inferiority feeling and adjustment in male elementary school students. (8) The elementary school students’ sex didn’t influence the degree of inferiority feeling. (9) The elementary school students’ social interest influenced the degree of inferiority feeling. (10) The elementary school students’ sex influenced the degree of adjustment behavior. (11) Both inferiority feeling and social interest could predict the adjustment behavior. But the social interest was the best predictor than inferiority feeling. Based upon the findings, suggestions for school education, guidance and further studies.
