The main purpose of the study was to develop broad definitions of the Gender Attitude Scale (GAS) for Elementary School Children to fit our current indigenous cultural context. 144 elementary school students served as the pre-test samples. The norms of GAS were based on 887 elementary school boys and girls in grades 5,6. SPSS for Window 10.0, Amos 4.0, and WINSTEPS were used for data analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, MANOVA, One-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation, canonical correlation, discriminant analysis, and cluster analysis. The main results were: 1.The inventory consists of five subscales:Sexual physicality, Gender role, Getting along, Gender equality, and Social issue. Each subscale contains 4 to 18 items, and the whole scale contains 54 items. 2.Reliability studies of the five subscales of GAS have yielded Cronbach α coefficients ranging from .58 to .86, and the whole scale Cronbach α coefficients was .8967. The content-related validity, and the construct-related validity were well satisfied. 3.The GAS provides two form norms :one is the percentile rank and T-score based on raw score; the other is latent score and T-score based on IRT Rasch model. Based on the above research results, concrete suggestions were made for the usage of GAS and the further study.
