On account of economic development in South-East Asia and China, the conventional industry based on laborer in Taiwan weaken its competition gradually. There is no exception in garment industry. To invoke automatic industry in garment design for the purpose of overcoming the problem is rather crucial. In general, most of the garment design system using computers play an auxiliary role. This kind of system provides the functions of two-dimensional pattern design, modification and scaling. It relies completely on the knowledge of experienced designers in order to operate properly. However, the designs from 2D pattern cannot be variety. For the purpose of preserve and create personal style in three-dimensional fashion design, we develop a garment design automation system. Not only provides frame creation but also its modification in three dimensions. It combines the techniques of parameterized geometric modeling and clothes pattern. B-spline curve and surface are utilized to interpolate the pivotal features of the garment. Through the provided interactive interface, the garment style is freely created by users will. Eventually, the 3D well-designed garment is then given for flattening as pattern in the next stage. The aim of the research is to develop a fundamental garment design automation system. The system will integrate with the pattern and marker planning subsystem, it would assist the garment industry fulfill the goal of design and tailor automation.
