The business strategy analysis of weight control department in the hospitals

For the general overweight phenomenon of modern people, fatness becomes a big threat for their health. In the present society, there are numerous different ways that could cause weight reduction. However, in order to follow this tendency and confront the managing difficulties of retrenched health insurance payments, many hospitals establish weight reduction departments by providing it in outpatient department and weight loss classes. Based on the above-mentioned motives, this research studied on hospital A, hospital B and hospital C to discuss the analysis of management strategies within the weight reduction departments of different places, environments and scales. This research intended to find out: 1. The management environments and competitive strategic analysis of the weight reduction department within the hospital. 2. The factors, which are related to the managing effectiveness in the weight reduction department. 3. To explore different mapping organizational strategies in different hospitals. By using cases compare ness and depth interviews, this research tried to analyze the inner and outward factors, which can be the references for the weight reduction department of the hospital to draw up management and organizational strategies in the future. It also found out that under the establishment of health insurance system, the area hospitals face more difficult competing conditions that make their weight reduction departments tend to be more as organizations of business and missions. For the local hospitals whose managing environments are more stabilized tend to develop as organizations of mechanism. The factors which are related to the managing effectiveness in the weight reduction department include: the social and financial backgrounds of the local residents, outward competitors, scales of the hospitals, the forming processes of the inner hospital strategies, planning of the future directions of the hospitals, resources which are provided by the hospitals, the flexibilities of coordinating inner human resources and the marketing strategies of hospitals. In the modern competitive and changing environments, hospitals demand on everlasting management needs to be changed. Although most of the organizational structures of hospitals are professional ones, but under the practices different departments, hospitals would gradually become another kinds of organizational structures. Only to modify the most superior competitive management strategies and organizational strategies according to the organizational backgrounds and their controlled resources can get the most proper managing modes.
