Due to lots of uncertain parameters that needs to be considered in the unsteady aerodynamic system, the concept of Fuzzy Theory was developed by creating a reasonable mathematical model and appropriate membership function to solve the optimum design problem within the design constraints. The unsteady aerodynamic environment used for the blade design contains the coupling of wake dynamics and aerodynamics. The Peters finite state inflow theory is chosen for a wake modeling. The blade element theory and lifting line theory are used to formulate the aerodynamic force for a blade. With the help of optimization method, a fuzzy logic optimal expect system was developed. The purpose of this study is to obtain a helicopter blades chord length and twist angle which to minimize the power output and also maintain the lift force in a mission. The BELL UH-1H helicopter rotor blades will be redesigned by fuzzy optimum method under different flight conditions. The result of this study would provide important information of helicopter rotor blade design.
