Popis: | 89 Many traditional business models have changed greatly because of the coming of the Internet era. The consumer behaviors have also changed by the decreasing of the transaction cost. The financial service industry is one of the categories that is suitable to provide products and services through the Internet. For example, the brokers’ business models and the investors’ behaviors have obviously changed. This thesis discusses about the business models of online brokers and the features of online financial services in the long run. First of all, we begin with discussing the market structures and business models of traditional broker industry. Then, we analyze the market structure of online broker and the services or products that are provided by the online brokers. We hope to find out the key success factors of online brokers. In order to analyze the business model of online brokers, we choose two successful online brokers — Charles Schwab and E*Trade — as case study. We also compare the strength and weakness of multi-channel broker and Internet-only brokers. Through industry analysis and case study, we are able to overview the value configurations of online financial services, customer relationship management, entry strategy of potential entrants, the vision of online brokers business. Finally, submit the suggestions to the online brokers in Taiwan. This thesis establishes four conclusions: Firstly, the key success factors of online brokers are low commission, multi-channel services, large varieties of products and services, high quality researches and investment suggestions, data processing and database building, transaction system integration, communication infrastructure and bandwidth, marketing strategy and early movers. Secondly, there are two developing trends. One is to provide the lower commission and high-speed execution rate. Though the margin is limited, it is still able to catch the day trader market. The other trend is to provide the full services. The purpose is creating high add on value. Generally speaking, B-to-C services or products are easily executed via Internet. B-to-B services or products are still hard to transfer to the Internet. Thirdly, the online broker market is highly concentrated. The entry strategy of new entrant should be strategy alliance or merge and acquisition. And we predict that the merge or acquisition should happen in the future. Fourthly, there are three suggestions to the trend of the online brokers in Taiwan. One is to provide the online trading services as soon as possible to gain the essence of Internet through implementation. The other is to provide innovative products and services. Finally, traditional employees of broker should be re-trained in order to provide professional financial services. |
