This research explores the impacts of factory closure on women workers’ life histories. The methodology adopted is multiple disciplines oriented. Data are collected by in-depth interviews, participant observations and literature reviews. Five perspectives of the theoretical framework of this research are explored in-depth: the life histories of women workers; impacts of social and economical change on labor markets; factory closure related policies; the transformation of women workers consciousnesses; and present situations of these women workers. Through exploring women workers’ experiences in the Liam-Fu factory, this research finds that the collective consciousness of women workers is emerging from their life experiences as well as from their struggles against factory owners and the government. Based on research findings, following suggestions are proposed: immediately establishing a redundancy system; strongly enforcing unemployment insurance system; furthermore, need to offer sufficient job trainings opportunities and to disclose labor market information.
