Effects of Culture Media on the Multiplication of rhizomes and Formation of shoots fromCymbidium sinense 'Shi-Ba-Xyue-Shi' and its hybrids

Multiplications of rhizomes of Cymbidium sinense “Shi-Ba-Xyue-Shi” (CS X CS)and (Cym. sinense “Shi-Ba-Xyue-Shi” X(Cym. sinense “Shi-Ba-Xyue-Shi” X Cym. ensifolium “Shi-San-Tai-Bao”)(CS X (CS X CE) are better than those of Cym. sinense “Shi-Ba-Xyue-Shi” X Cym. faberi Rolfe (CS X CF) and Cym. sinense “Shi-Ba-Xyue-Shi” X Cym. goeringii “Da-Fu-Guei” (CS X CG), especially the rhizomes of CS X (CS X CE). Multiplications of rhizomes of CS X CS and its hybrids will be better while the rhizomes are cultured under the medium containing 1/4MS salt concentration, 3.0% sucrose, 45 g/l potato homogenate, 5.5 g/l agar. Furthermore, it is also found that the multiplications of will be much better if NAA 1 mg/l plus BA 1 mg/l is added to the medium mentioned above. With the species as CS X CS, the optimal concentration of PGR will vary with its different hybrids. NAA 1 mg/l plus BA 5 mg/l will result in the better growth of shoots of CS X CS. But higher concentration of BA will contribute to the better growth of shoots while we culture CS X CG. While it goes to CS X CF, 0.1 mg/l TDZ is used for shoot formation and the shoots gained will grow sufficiently under the medium of NAA 1 mg/l. While culturing CS X (CS X CE), we can get the better-developed shoot under the medium of NAA 1 mg/l plus TDZ 0.01 mg/l.
