A Study on the Management of Museum Libraries in Taiwan

| Popis: | 88 This study aims to picture the development and management of museum libraries in Taiwan. The author sees the whole scene in two perspectives: (1) Museum libraries as special libraries : questions such as library organization, manpower, and operation are investigated ; (2) The role of the museum library in support of museum’s functions : analyze how a museum library supports its parent organization in collection, research, exhibition, and education. Firstly, the author found out that of 78 museums chosen, 22 have their own libraries, and then surveyed these museum libraries mainly by interview. The gathered data are analyzed and presented in descriptive statistics. Finally, according to the related literature research and the survey results, some suggestions are proposed for future management of museum libraries. |
