The Study of Energy Transfer and Electron Transfer in Alq3-DCJT, Alq3-DCJTB Emitting System

In our emitting system, the energy donor is Alq3 and the energy acceptor are DCJT and DCJTB. We have measured the emissions in the following conditions: 1. in various solvents 2. powder state which has been coated in glass substrate 3. polymer matrix. The energy transfer efficiency is much larger in polymer matrix than it is in solution because of shortage of solvent collision and O2 quenching in polymer system. The special phenomena we observed in quenching of DCJT emission by adding the Alq3 which is energy donor in electronic energy transfer process. It has not been mentioned in literatures. At present, we assume the quenching is from the electron transfer occurred in Alq3-DCJT excited stated especially in CH3CN solvent. The emission of DCJT and DCJTB with different concentration in polymer matrix has been measured and critical distance of energy transfer in Alq3-DCJT, Alq3-DCJTB, has been estimated in various concentration. Both slight red shift in emission and the shortage of R0 in high acceptor concentration can be rationalized by assuming that the steric effect of three methyl group between two acceptor molecules become larger in molecular approaching.
