Due to environmental lightness variation, images captured by lost cost digital camera may present exposure problem, such as over-exposure or under-exposure. Therefore, the development of an intelligent and automatic digital image exposure compensation system raises our attention. However, there are some factors to be considered in exposure image classification. Such as varying features and classification methods etc.. In this thesis, we applied ten features and fuzzy possibilistic c-means method to perform exposure image feature extraction and classification task. We also utilized sigmoid equalization and color enhancement method to perform image compensation task. This work provides with less efforts in feature extraction, correction and image enhancement. From the experience we obtained in variant environmental luminance, the fuzzy possibilistic c-means methods are more adequate for color exposure image classification. In the image compensation, we discovered that the result of the sigmoid equalization method is better than the general histogram equalization for exposure compensation.
