Popis: | 87 This thesis presents a multi-server system for internet music on demand applications based on Jini technology. The Jini technology has been developed by Sun Microsystems as the enabling technology for network applications that require no central control of resources by specific servers. Because of the wide-spreading internet multimedia including music usage, the trend of using non-pc client devices becomes obvious. Many devices such as personal digital assistants (PDAs), portable internet browser, Internet phone may all log on the net to access music files. Jini technology, coupled with the Java provides a federated network environment where client devices do not need to know server-specific resource in advance. Instead, they may use a look-up server that manages the resource utilization issues. In this thesis, we introduce the application of Jini/Java technologies for internet music on demand. The architecture, programming example, and the study of the experimental results are presented in detail. A comparison of using Jini technology with other available techniques such as UPNP (Universal Plug AND Play ) and CORBA is provided. Future improvement for practical application is also suggested. |
