The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of creativity via cooperative learning of undergraduate project work in terms of function, structure, and interaction orientations. Subjects were 32 senior students from the Department of Industrial Education and Technology of National Changhua University of Education. In order to reach the goal, the research firstly used document analysis to explore the related literature about team style, conceptual development, creativity, thinking, and cooperative learning. In addition, the qualitative and quantitative approaches, idea-design creativity test, and observation were used to collect data. Base on the results of the document analysis, three different team-work styles (function-orientation, structure-orientation, interaction-orientation) were distinguished in Hirokawa and Poole''s(1996) view point. Thirty-two students were distributed to different team style-work groups. Three subjects from each style group were selected to carry out the qualitative case study to collect information about the cooperative process. The statistic procedure such as ANCOVA was be applied to different analysis. After conducting the research procedure, the conclusions of the research were: In terms of case study: 1. Characteristics of function-orientation group are: emphasized evaluation of scheme and quality of decision ; when looking for the problem solving ideas they value the expert''s opinion. About the discussed theme, function-orientation group is more substantial in product function, structure, replacement and improvement. 2. Characteristics of structure-orientation group are: good in team spirit; the members of group are trust each other; they tend to reject the idea from other groups; the problem solving approach is to look into periodicals or through group discussion. Regarding the discussed theme, structure-orientation group''s performance were more substantial in product function and product structure than other functions. 3. Characteristics of interaction-orientation are: they prefer adopting different ideas; they encourage other members to offer creative ideas; they emphasize on the evaluation of project scheme; the members of group trust each other. About the discussed theme, interaction orientation group''s performance were more prominent in product function, product structure, replacement or improvement, changing physical properties, types, sizes and display.
