Popis: | 87 This study examines the performance and treatment efficiency in digesting landfill leachate with septage. The leachate and septage, both from Taichung City which having a population of 800,000, were combined and treated by anaerobic digestion. Two lab-scale UASB reactors ( 13.5 L working volume for each ) were used and operated at 35± 1 ℃. Reactor A treated septage and leachate were mixed at the ratio of 3:1, 2:1 and 1:1 on the basis of total solids COD and in Reactor B septage were treated. The hydraulic retention time was 1.5 days. The feeding solids concentrations were high to 11540~13693 mg/L as total solids. According to experimental results, a successful operation of high-solids UASB system was obtained. The removal efficiencies of reactor B were usually better than reactor A. For reactor A, a higher ratio of septage ( Run 3:1 ) increased the removal efficiencies of total COD, ammonia nitrogen and total phosphorus ( T-P ), volatile solids ( VS ), carbohydrate and proteins. The COD removal reached 50.7% for Reactor A, respectively. The weight of granular sludge accumulation rates were and 11~52 mg VSS/day in the Reactor A and B, respectively. The sludge discharge rates were 0.45~0.75 and 0.31~0.43 L/day for the Reactor A and B, respectively. The granulation rates were 1.4~9.4 and 3.3~5.9μm/day for the granules of Reactor A and B, respectively. The granule sizes of bed sludge were 0.718~0.948 and 0.783~0.846 mm for the Reactor A and B, respectively. Batch test with serum bottles was used to study the effects of heavy metal ions on the VFA degradation and methane production. For Reactor A, the anaerobic biogranule’s acidogenic activities increase by 38 ~ 61%, for each gram of the biomass that comes into contact with 0.09~2.50 mg of Mn, Ni, Zn, Cu and Fe. For Reactor B, the anaerobic biogranule’s acidogenic activities increase by 50~105%, for each gram of the biomass that comes into contact with 0.09~2.48 mg of Mn, Ni, Zn, Cu and Fe. The kinetic parameters of the Reactor A was respectively Vmax 10.85 mg-COD/mg VS-day,Ks 21028 mg-COD/L,Yg 0.1 mg-VS/mg-COD,Kd 0.51 1/day. |
