This thesis implements the RF frond-end of Personal Access Communication System Unlicensed version B (PACS_UB), which is a time-division duplex system, operating in the band of 1920 to 1930 MHz. The design of RF frond-end starts with link budget calculation for performance estimation and subcircuit specification determination. The RF frond-end is designed with dual IF conversion, which includes low noise amplifier, RF mixer, TR switch, first IF amplifier, AGC, second IF amplifier, base-band amplifier, base-band low pass filter, driver amplifier, power amplifier and antenna diversity switch. Because of TDD name, some sub-circuit can be shared for the transmitter and receiver to reduce components and power consumption. Every sub-circuit is simulated, implemented and tested individually. The subcircuits are integrated on three separate PC board, one for transmitter and receiver, the other for frequency synthesizer, and the third board for base-band interface. The integrated tests are conducted in two aspects, which are CW signal test and digitally-modulated signal test. The CW signal test measures the module total gain range 45dB~100dB, noise figure 8.1dBm, iIP3 -26.7dBm and P1dB 18.5dBm. The digital modulation signal test(e.g. p/4 DQPSK), measures transmission performance such as eye pattern, signal constellation and EVM value. The EVM is less than 10.5﹪with p/4 DQPSK of input power -85dBm at 1920MHz.
