ON THE TIME DOMAIN CALCULATION FOR NONLINER SHIP MOTIONS AND WAVE LOADS OF A HIGH-SPEED VESSEL IN OBLIQUE WAVES

In this dissertation,following a nonlinear strip synthesis scheme, a practical method for predicting the motions for a high-speed craft in oblique waves has been presented.In that method,the time-varying submerged hull surface and the coupling effects between tranverse and vertical motions are conidered.Moreover,using the moment theory,the nonlinear flare impact and dynamic lift are also taken into account. Besides,the equations ofmotions are described by the body-fixed coordinate,rather than the vehicle-carried vertical frame which is used conventionally.To prevent the numerical divrgence due to the drift of sway and /or yaw motions in the domain simulation, artifical springs in sway and yaw modes are introduced in that method.However, in the present method of this report, we apply digital filtering technique to filter the low frequency drifts from the resultant motins,and obtain the stable solutions in time integration process for solving the equations of motions. Without the influence of concentrating force of artifical springs,the wave loads can be also computed reasonably in the present method. The present method is applied to an exciting high-speed craft of 30 meter in length to clarify its fundamental characteristics of motions and wave loads in oblique waves.Furthermore,the effectsof the empcally evaluated viscuos damping on the predicted ship motions are also discussed.
