Popis: | 85 The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness and feasibility of dye wastewaters treated by electro-Fenton method. The experiments divided into three parts. Firstly, to determine the influence of current density, distance between cathode and anode electrodes, and concentration of perchloride ion on the electolytic generation of hydrogen peroxide. Secondly, to explore the effect of pH, concentration of ferrous ion, and inorganic ions such as sulfuric ion and perchloride ion to the performance of electro-Fenton method for dye wastewater treatment. Thirdly, to investigate the efficiency of chemical precipitation for further removal of the remaning dissolved iron and COD from the dye wastewaters, which previously treated by electro-Fenton method. As the electrolyte concentration of sodium perchloride was 0.02 M and the distances of the two electrodes were 3, 4 and 5 cm in this study, the experimental results indicated that the more hydrogen peroxide was produced. However, when the electrolyte concentration was 0.1 M, the hydrogen peroxide production was occured at the distance of the two electrodes was 4 cm. The result of the effect of perchloride ion on the production rate of hydrogen peroxided indicated that the higher concentrtion of perchloride ion the less hydrogen peroxide was generated. When treating dye wastewaters by electro-Fenton method, the highest COD removal efficiency was happened under the condition of pH was 2.5 and the concentration of ferrous ion was 2000 mg/L. Also, the results indicated that perchloride ion is preferable to sulfuric ion as electrolyte for higher COD removal. In addition, the efficiency of electro-Fenton method for dye wastewater treatment was affected by the initial concentrations of chloride ion and conductivity presented in the wastewaters. Furthermore, it found that above 99% dissolved iron and 7.4% COD was removed by chemical precipitation when pH was adjusted to 9 after the wastewaters had been previously treated by electro-Fenton method.Keywords:Electro-Fenton Method, Dye Wastewater, Chemical Precipitation, Hydrogen Peroxide |
