On The Passive Behavior of Ti by Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy

The corrosion resistance of thermally grown oxide film on commercial pure titanium and Ti-6Al-4V were investigated with electrochemical impedancespectroscopy(EIS). Due to the complexity of EIS data, the equivalent circuit was applied to simulate the EIS experimental results and a series of physical models about the thermally grown oxide films were suggested. Through the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, it was found that some resistance oxidation treatment could enhance the corrosion resistancedue to the oxidation film with a higher Rct. On the other hand, the sole increment of the film thickness would not improve the corrosion resistance ifRct was reduced.
