A Multi_channel LAN for Dstributed Multi_media Applications

Popis:	82 This dissertation presents an expandable multi-channel LAN, called Multimedia Multi-Channel Network (MMCN), which can integrate multiple parallel CSMA/CD networks and provide real-time transmission capability. The MMCN allows users to gracefully expand its network bandwidth by adding more CSMA/CD channel to the network. Also, we design a simple and reliable slotted logic ring protocol to support isochronous data transmission of the MMCN. With the time constrain, we implement our multi-channel LAN as a dynamic link library (DLL) on top of the Packet Driver. The DLL provides an extended Packet Driver API to network applications. Therefore, the existing Packet Driver applications can use the DLL to access the Packet Driver, and new applications can be written on the extended API to access the services of the MMCN.
