Dalbergia odorifera T. Chen. (Leguminosae) has been used in Traditional Chinese medicine to treat stagnation of disordered blood, ischemia, and inflammatory. In a preliminary test, we found that methanolic extract from heartwood of Dalbergia odorifera T. Chen possessed inhibitory activity on platelet aggregation, vasoconstriction and inflamma- tory.By activity guided chemical fractionation, eleven pure compounds were isolated from the ethylacetate fraction of Dalbergia odorifera T. Chen: compoundⅠ:formononetin,Ⅱ: isoliquiritigenin, Ⅲ:7,3'',4''-trihydroxyflavone, Ⅳ:butein, Ⅴ:liquiritigenin, Ⅵ:7,3'',5''-trihydroxy, Ⅶ:dalbergin, Ⅸ:stevenin, Ⅹ:3,7,2''-trihyroxy-4''-methoxyisoflavanone, Ⅹ:xenognosin B. In these compounds,Ⅵ and Ⅹ were first discovered in natural products;Ⅲ,Ⅳ,Ⅶ,Ⅸ and ⅩⅠ were first isolated from Dalbergia odorifera T. Chen; other compounds were known compounds. In biological assay, compound Ⅱ and Ⅳ showed signification inhibitory activities on platelet aggregation, vasoconstriction, and neutrophil degranulation. Whilst others exhibited mild inhi- bitory potency on platelet aggregation, vasoconstriction, and neutrophil degranulation.
