The purpose of this project was to design a program that raises awareness on obesity-related health condition, identify potential funding sources, and write a grant to fund an obesity prevention program. An extensive literature review increased knowledge about the factors affecting obesity and provided a framework for an obesity prevention program to facilitate in the community. A search for potential funding sources via the Internet and a grant database resulted in the selection of Kaiser Permanente Southern California (KPSC) as the best funding source for this project. A grant proposal was written to support an obesity prevention program at Toberman Neighborhood Center in San Pedro, California. The submission and funding of this grant was not a requirement for the successful completion of the project. |
