Popis: In order to overcome the rigidity of spectrum resource allocation in a Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) network and efficiently utilize the available spectrum resources, Flexi-Grid Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexed networking is being developed as an extension to the current DWDM networks. The primary advantage of Flexi-Grid Networks is high spectrum efficiency because of the enabling technologies - flexible spectrum allocation on a fine granularity and the adaptive modulation schemes available for use in these networks.There are multiple spectrum allocation algorithms and signaling techniques by which spectrum resource allocation can be managed efficiently for different network modes i.e., Centralized Networks Operation Mode (C-NOM) and Distributed Networks Operation Mode (D-NOM). In this thesis, we gather useful metrics by studying behavior of different spectrum allocation algorithms with Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switched control plane with forward and backward signaling in C-NOM and D-NOM. The results are obtained by simulating busy and normal hours traffic arrival. A network simulation tool was enhanced for this purpose.
