The van de Graaf accelerator facility at Case Western Reserve University was developed into an analytical research center capable of performing Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry, Elastic Recoil Detection Analysis for hydrogen profiling, Proton Enhanced Scattering, and 4He resonant scattering for 16O profiling. These techniques were applied to the study of Au, Na+, Cs+, and H2O water diffusion in a-C:H films. The results are consistent with the fully constrained network model of the microstructure as described by Angus and Jansen. |
