Renewable energy resources severely hindered by their randomness, discontinuity, and intermittency. To meet the rapid growth of demands on the development of electricity energy storage, redox flow batteries (RFBs) has emerged as one of the most promising energy storage systems. The active redox materials are crucial for the implementation of RFBs because they determine the cell potential and energy density of RFBs. Metal complex compounds are promising candidates for RFB active materials because their design flexibility and stable redox reactions. In this thesis, I summarized new metal complexes used in aqueous redox flow batteries recently and compared the results in battery operation. |
