Popis: This thesis explores and compares the pre and post covid-19 pandemic awareness, understanding, and challenges related to ADHD/ ADD across external stakeholders (parents, teachers, doctors) in a child’s ecosystem in India. It includes three independent stakeholder research and collective system analysis to define the barriers to diagnosis and treatment and intentions to support child mental health. We emphasize the role of cultural, demographic, and socio-economic factors in Indian parents’ and teachers’ responses to ADHD/ ADD. We explore how different areas of medical practice, like psychiatry, psychology, and pediatrics, engage with children with ADHD/ ADD. The thesis also includes challenges doctors face in providing appropriate care to children with mental health difficulties. Through system analysis and systems thinking, we identify the collective pain points and needs of the ecosystem within which a child with the potential for ADHD/ ADD lives. We also address post covid-19 shifting trends in societal acceptance of and willingness to support child mental health through quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Using insights from the primary stakeholder and secondary background research, this thesis takes a human-centered design, system design, and platform strategy approach to create engaging, easy-to-implement, and educational solution concepts for pediatric ADHD/ ADD. The work aims to promote awareness, early diagnosis, and treatment adherence to ADHD/ ADD in India. The proposed solution, SMURF, is a multi-stakeholder, culturally sensitive, accessible platform concept designed to support children with ADHD/ ADD. The platform's primary goal is to create awareness about ADHD/ ADD amongst stakeholders and help periodically observe symptoms in children for early diagnosis. It aims to support doctors in information aggregation, generating prescreening reports and gentle nudges to promote treatment adherence. The initial platform blueprint has been successfully validated by psychiatrists and psychologists in India. The thesis provides guidelines for the future design and implementation of an equitable platform and the need for governmental support to help children with ADHD/ ADD across different socio-economic backgrounds.
