The tendency towards Digital Libraries at Universities is unquestionable and rising fast, keeping pace with the developments of the information industry and the social demands encouraged by new technologies. In this sense, there are tools for Digital Library management and publishing already available in the market and institutions are allocating part of the budget traditionally assigned to information resources to 'technology'. The goal is not only ‘to posses’ information resources but to be able ‘to display’ them appealingly. Consequently, for the library to keep its active role in the information world, it must succeed in meeting the challenge imposed by content management. This communication introduces the work in content management carried out in the implementation of Polibuscador, the gateway to the Digital Library of the Universidad Politecnica of Valencia. |
